Enjoy a Mild Winter Day at Merkle Natural Resources Management Area
Nature is calling this weekend, even if you’re visiting from the comfort of your car. Merkle Natural Resources Management Area and Visitor Center has great outdoor options for a hike, but also features a critical area driving tour to be extra sure that you’re maintaining a safe social distance from other guests. But say you are ready for a breath of fresh air. This unique area has a variety of trails, as well as five different ponds for fishing and bird watching. No matter your plan for the day, stop at the Frank Oslislo Visitors Center for live animal exhibits, informational displays, and a bird feeder viewing area well-stocked with binoculars and field maps.
The Merkle Natural Resources Management Area and Visitor Center is a great place to bring the kids for a day of exploring, or a quiet stop to commune with nature this winter. The Maryland Park Service website is a great resource for trail maps and information, so be sure to check it out before you visit.
